:)

I love you for the nappiness of your hair
And the brownness of your eyes
Everywhere I go people stop and stare
Is my race that much of a surprise?

I am black and I guess you could say white
I am Canadian, Cape Verdean and I guess you could      say Portuguese
I can identify with whichever I might
I am not here to please

When people look at me,
they don't take the time to think
They don't see what I see
I'm just another missing link

  1. Azarra, this is awesome. I love that you used a strike-through mark for the last line to emphasize what you're not. Thanks for writing such a cool poem about the difference between who you are and what you look like.
